The Nomad S1 light combines the touring capability and speed of the standard Nomad S1 (incl. spraydeck) with a travel-friendly weight and pack size. Due to the weight saving of about one kilogram and a significantly reduced pack size, the Nomad S1 light is also suitable for combined land and water tours and allows enough space in the backpack for further equipment.

Configuration
 
The Nomad S1 light is characterized by its central seating position and the symmetrical bow and stern and is therefore has similar paddling chrachteristics to a conventional kayak. Furthermore the shape of the stern provides luggage capacity behind the seat. Due to the length of almost 3m a higher speed can be achieved, which means more enjoyment on longer paddling trips. 
 
Outfit
 
The Nomad S1 light is an open boat without spraydeck. There are no loose parts such as the coaming and skirt. The transport of bigger things (e.g. backpacks, bicycles) is simplified. 
 
In warmer weather and without whitewater, paddling the deck-free Nomad S1 Light provides a greater sense of freedom. 
 
The absence of the integrated fin has a positive effect on the pack size of the boat. In most cases, the Nomad S1 light is long enough to ensure the raft tracks well. If greater tracking is required then it is possible to retrofit a removable skeg.
 
Furthermore, the Nomad S1 light is equipped with a foam backrest, which ensures a comfortable sitting posture even on longer trips. The backrest is adjustable so that the Packraft is suitable for paddlers of different sizes. This is an often overlooked factor in larger rafts where the loss of connectivity withe the hull means a significant loss of efficiency. The almost indestructible foam material also ensures a further weight reduction compared to the standard backrest.
 
Use
 
 
The boat is ideal for solo or group tours, even with conventional hardshell kayaks and canoes. With a boat length of just under 3m, the speed difference will be barely noticeable. Due to the missing spraydeck the boat is especially suitable for calmer waters and is a good choice for tours that have a hiking element. 
 
The Nomad S1 is "thigh strap ready", i.e. fully equipped with the necessary tie downs for thigh straps. The straps themselves can be purchased seperately if required. Those who plan the use it in whitewater, may well benifit from thigh straps.
 
Typical areas of use include touring the extensive lakes in Scotland, the Lakes, and Scandinavia, coast hopping, calm river touring for instance on parts of rivers such as the Spey, Wye or Severn. It would also make a great boat for touring urban areas like the canals of the UK, London, Amsterdam or Venice.
 
Note
 
For optimal performance it is important to achieve the right air pressure (especially when paddling in cold water). This is because of the longer hull and central seating position. Inadequate pressure can lead to the hull bending. If full pressure cannot be achieved by bag and then your own lung power, we recommend using a small pump.
